fishing: where and when to go? |
|
We fish both day and night; low and high water; on ebb and flood tides. The simple, but golden rule, is to locate the fish and use the right lures. In Wales you need pay less attention to the classic times to hunt bass and more attention to finding their haunts. We have built up an unparalleled knowledge of where they are; at what times and states of tide and when they feed and rest.
Spring, summer, autumn or
winter - yes winter!
We caught our first spring '06 fish on a surface lure on 6th May. We no longer consider season as a critical factor. Here we are limited only by water colour. Through spring, summer and autumn the sea is generally clear – barring storms. For mirror calm seas choose May and June, overnight stays and hot sunny days are on the menu in July and August and from September to October the fishing is at its challenging best. In winter it’s less often clear but when it is the fishing can still be special. Catching bass through to Christmas is possible, great fun and really rewarding. If you can travel at short notice we can work with you to spot a winter opportunity.
To safari or not to safari
Well that’s up to you. No traffic, no people, just bass! A sleeping bag and a beach BBQ are all in the mix. On those exceptional summer nights we just keep fishing!
Hunt the wilderness
As country people and conservationists, we will point out the quantity and variety of wildlife that inhabits our coastline. Dolphins are spotted almost daily and red kites, peregrines and choughs abound. The wildlife is rich and diverse and this place is one of the few remaining wild places in the UK.
